Ingredients for Birds Nests Recipe
1/2 c Butter or margarine
1/2 c Shortening
1/2 c Brown sugar
2 c Flour
1/2 ts Salt
1 ts Vanilla
2 Egg whites; beaten slightly
1/4 c Walnuts; crushed
1/4 c Jam
Birds Nests Preparation
Combine butter, shortening, brown sugar, flour, salt, and vanilla. Roll into 1 balls. Roll balls in egg whites and then roll in crushed walnuts. Put finger indention in center. Fill with jam. Bake at 350 for 8-10 minutes. NOTES : This recipe came from Sherrie. She sent them to her husband one Christmas and I tasted them at his home. They were delicious and I immediately contacted her for her recipe.
