Ingredients for Date Nut Bars 2 Recipe
1 c All-purpose flour
2 ts Baking powder
1/4 ts Salt
1 c Chopped dates
1 c Chopped walnuts
5 Eggs; separated
1 c C and H Brown Sugar; packed
1 ts Vanilla
C and H Powdered Sugar
Date Nut Bars 2 Preparation
Combine flour, baking powder, and salt in bowl. Add dates and nuts and toss until well-coated and separated. Set aside. Beat egg yolks until thick (about 3 minutes). Gradually beat in sugar and vanilla. Blend in date-nut mixture. Beat egg whites until stiff; fold into batter. Pour into 15 by 10 by 1 inch greased and floured pan. Spread evenly. Bake in 325 degree oven 30 minutes until light brown. Cool. Cut into 48 bars and roll in powdered sugar.
