Review Summary: the very best, but less than should be
Review: When my then husband first brought me back a box of Neuhaus chocolates from Europe, I knew I had found the best. From that first box, I have always compared the quality of the chocolates that I buy or are given to me, by the standards of Neuhaus. Especially perfect is the "fresh cream" chocolates, which are harder to come by here in the United States as they lose their freshness faster than other packaged confections, so when shipped from Belgium, they must be sent overnight, increasing the cost.
I purchased this box, advertised as 250 gr., or 8.8 oz., just before Christmas, as my order from Neuhaus direct was held up, and I wanted to have some for Christmas eve. It arrived in perfect condition, but the box is only 200 gr., 7 oz., so I felt a bit cheated.
The quality is excellent, presentation nice, and the taste delicious. Neuhaus chocolates are of excellent quality in every regard. One chocolate from the box is more satisfying than several of any other chocolates. I like the smoothly velvet feeling as the chocolate melts in the mouth, the subtle releasing of flavors as the fillings reach the taste-buds when the chocolate melts. These rich, dense chocolates are a treasure in every bite. They are worth the price. You will not find them as sweet and sugary, or the fillings smoothly glossy like corn syrup based fillings of creams and fondants so popular in cheaper chocolates. The richness of the chocolate, and the freshness of the taste are superior to lesser brands.
These were a present to myself, and I am very happy with my gift!
I believe if you try them, you will not be disappointed.

Review Summary: Wonderful chocolates!
Review: I have to admit there may be a bias here because the recipient of these confection's first initial is "N," but these chocolates ARE delicious. Expensive, though...including the high price for shipping (I guess chocolate does actually melt). The belgians know how to make a great nut paste and the packaging is high class (a red and brown color, not the one you see here on Amazon). These chocolates make for an amazing presentation for that someone with an elegantly refined sweet tooth. What I really wish is that Frucon had a better description of the names of which chocolates come in a box. I had a hard time finding a box with the "satan" and the "mephisto" pieces.

Review Summary: Great chocolates, great seller... if you have $$$ to burn...
Review: I've tried Leonidas, Bissingers, and now Neuhaus. The Frucon gift store seller is by far the best experience of the three, and the chocolates are great, as expected. Top quality all the way, better than Bissingers I would say, on par or better than Leonidas. BUT... you end up paying $60 for 16 pieces of chocolate (with expedited shipping included)... hence only 4 out of 5 stars. So if you don't mind blowing that kind of jack on 16 small slices of heaven... then you won't go wrong with this purchase.
