Origin: Ecuador Region: Upper area of the river Guayas Species: Forastero Arriba Superio Summer Selecto Vintage: yes This fresh hand-prepared chocolate bar is made Nacional or Arriba cocoa -- an exceptional grade of Guaranda Cocoa from Ecuador. Excellent and perfumed, its unquestionable quality makes it considered "Fine-flavored cocoa", like the Criollos and unlike the rest of the Forasteros. Since the beginning Arriba has been considered the best Ecuadorian cocoa. This special cocoa, only grown for export, was the one cultivated in the upper area of the river Guayas (upstream - Rio Arriba). Within decades, this name became a synonym for quality.
