Ingredients for Heart Shaped Cakes Recipe
1-1/2 c Flour
1/3 c Sugar
1/2 ts Soda
1 pn Nutmeg
1/4 c Chilled lard
1/3 c Buttermilk
Heart Shaped Cakes Preparation
Heat oven to 425. In bowl mix flour, sugar, soda & nutmeg. With cold fingers rub cold lard into dry ingredients. Make a well in center, add buttermilk & work with 1 hand into dough that can be rolled. Dust rolling surface with flour. shape dough into balls & roll into 8 circle. With table knife dipped in flour cut circle in half then each half into thirds to produce 6 wedges. shape each wedge into heart. Grease sheet & place hearts on it so they do not touch.
