Bamboo steamers are typically used for cooking Chinese dim sum, but have many virtues that make them handy for all types of food. The domed lid traps steam efficiently and the two baskets can be stacked to accommodate different foods in each level. These steamers are usually used inside a wok (be sure your wok is about 2" wider than the 10" baskets) but can also be set over a stockpot.

Review: This is my second one. The bamboo steamer's cover will not drop the water, which is condensed from the steam, back to the food being cooked which may ruin the texture and flavor of the delicacies. That is the reason why I prefer the bamboo one to the aluminum one.

This Joyce Chen steamer set is a very nicely constructed unit and the awesome price makes it all the better. This is one of my favorite kitchen tools because it is functional... versatile... and one of the healthiest ways to cook that I know of. Yep... I'm a happy camper with this purchase.
