Ingredients for Magic Carpet Cookies Recipe

1 c Butter
1/2 c Sugar
1 Egg
1 tb Almond or vanilla extract
2-2/3 c Flour
1/2 ts Baking powder
1/2 ts Salt
Jelly or Thin Confectioners
Sugar Icing

Magic Carpet Cookies Preparation

Heat oven to 375. Mix butter, sugar, egg & flavoring until creamy. Mix dry ingredients; blend into butter mixture. Divide dough in half. Reserve half for trim. Roll remaining half into two rectangles, 12*6 , on well floured cloth covered board. Cut each rectangle lengthwise in 3 equal strips. With spatula, carefully lift each strip onto ungreased baking sheet, placing 1 apart. Spoon reserved cookie dough into cookie press. If dough is too dry to go through press, work in 1-2 tsp. cream. Using smallest star design, press out in long ropes on each side of each strip & also one down center. Bake about 10 minutes or until edges are browned. Cool.
