Customer Reviews of George Stella's Livin' Low Carb: Family Recipes Stella Style
Review Summary: Delicious, Gourmet, Healthy food you and your family will love!!
Review: I've tried recipes from some other popular cookbooks for low carbers, for example from Dana Carpenter's books and was becoming very dissapointed by the outcomes, it's like they never tested the recipes at all. It's difficult to stick with this lifestyle without any outstanding recipes to rely on. Luckily for me I heard about George Stella on the lowbarb friends forum and his delicious recipes have renewed my commitment and enthusiasm for low carb eating, many of the recipes I have tried so far are so good my non lowcarb family can't tell the differance and are asking for seconds! Now that makes sticking to a "diet" almost effortless, thank you George!

Review Summary: George Has changed My Life!
Review: This cookbook is pratical, I never feel like I'm on a diet, this has truly helped me to change my life. I no longer look at low carb as a sentence of some sort. It has really became my life. I have made these simple recipes for friends and family and they have no idea it's low carb! My son has even lost weight as a result and he is enjoying the food also. I have lost almost 30 pounds with no ease. I have both of his books and I hear there is a third on the way and I can't wait! Thank you Mr. George Stella!

Review Summary: Even my non low-carb eatin sugar substitute hatin husband loves the recipes...
Review: So far, even my husband has love the recipes. We made the stuffed pumpkin last night and he was pleasantly surprised. Some of the recipes are a little high on the carb count, but I pick and choose. I have really enjoyed this book and have welcomed the variety it offers.

Review Summary: Great Addition to Your Low Carb Cookbook Library
Review: The first of this book tells how George Stella became a chef. It also chronicles how and why he became obese. He tells the reader how he came across the low carb style of living and how it changed his and his family's life. Him and his family lost over 500 pds. I really enjoyed reading his account of his weight struggle and final triumph.
The remainder of the book is recipes. Given is a little background and advice at the beginning of each section and each recipe.
Stella style is eating food you like and not worrying about how much you eat. And as George says in the book, you want your recipes to come from a chef, not a doctor.
As for the recipes, there are a few that have always been low-carb but most are remakes of recipes substituting items for their high-carb counterparts. WARNING: Stella relies heavily on soyflour and Splenda so if you live in an area where you cannot get soyflour or do not want to use Splenda then most of the recipes are not going to be for you. This is also not for those watching your fat or calories.
I like the make-over recipes, its nice to be able to enjoy things again like fried chicken, pizza and lasagna.
Overall, it is a good addition to your low-carb cookbook library.
